The Pursuit, 2024

This kinetic sculpture measures over 78” long x 20” wide x 40” tall. The Great White Shark is in constant motion as it swims fluidly towards it’s prey. This project was the result of teaming up with the amazing artist and sculptor, Blake McFarland, of BM Sculptures. The Great White Shark was carved out of a single 300 pound Bastogne Walnut burl log. The seal is also in constant swimming motion as it tries to escape to live another day. The seal was carved out of Old Growth Redwood Burl estimated to be over 1000 years old. The mechanism includes over 750 pieces, including a polished brass facade, and was built to efficiently and quietly run continuously. It is displayed on a 6 1/2 foot base of Black Walnut.
